To Think… or not to think

Young woman meditating with eyes closedWould you say you’re more of a think or feeler?  Did you know that the best decisions usually come from working with a strong sense of both?

We’re born thinkers and thinkers get most of the credit.

How many times have you heard someone lauded for being an incredible feeler? Not many, I’m guessing.

You have probably heard someone talked about with great revere for being a really great thinker though, right?

Thinking things through can be a wonderful way to go through life… or is it?

Unfortunate things can happen if you only and always decide on emotion without thinking things through, OR, if you are only basing your decisions on logic.

Recognizing how you FEEL about something is also an important part of the decision making process.

How you’re feeling is your body’s reaction to what is happening, and this is commonly called your intuition or gut feeling.

It’s never a good idea to discount this because sometimes, things look great on paper but don’t pan out the way you expect.

Looking great on paper means everything seems to make sense and appears to be a result of sound thinking.

However, something inside of you can feel ill at ease, telling you that despite everything appearing to make perfect sense, this just won’t be a good thing to do.  The reverse can also be true.

So the next time you want to make an important decision, listen to your thoughts and your feelings.

How Well do you Know Yourself?

EV001518How well do you think you know yourself?

Do you really know what you want and what you don’t?

Do you know what your core values are and what’s really important to you?

If you don’t, you may find people taking advantage of you, because your boundaries are hazy or nonexistent.

You see, you set the rules for yourself. If you’re unclear about what you want and what you don’t, how can other people know how to respond to you.

Setting boundaries can be a challenging at any given moment but it really gets tricky when you don’t know what your personal boundaries are.

Say for example, you haven’t allowed yourself to feel your emotions like anger or guilt when an incident evokes them.

If you repress your feelings, how can you know how deeply a similar situation could affect you?

Then the next time something similar occurs, you may allow it, only to regret it after, simply because you didn’t recognize the need to draw a boundary.

The rule is: If something doesn’t feel good to you, set a boundary. Ask the person to stop what they’re doing, or simply walk away from the situation, yourself.

So tune into your feelings. Recognize what feels good and what doesn’t, and take control.

Knowing when to set boundaries will give you the courage to set them. You’ll be happier, and in the flow.

Are you overlooking something?

Play with catWhat does appreciation mean to you?  How often are you appreciative of the people, places and things in your life?

There’s so much in your life to appreciate and yet it’s easy to overlook what’s around you, all day, every day.

When you are immersed in your surroundings, you tend to forget what you have, especially if you’re concentrating on what you wish you had.

As a frequent traveler, I’m always surprised by the things I take for granted when they are no longer readily accessible to me.

A hot shower with a strong water spray or ice cubes that just fall out of the front door of the refrigerator are luxuries in other parts of the world.  Yet, I help myself to these things every day and don’t think anything about it.

It can be easy to take people for granted too.

If you live near family (provided you get along) or still live in the town where you grow up, you may not appreciate the fact that there might be a small army of people ready to help you, drive you to the airport or help you move.

How are you doing at appreciating the people in your life?

Appreciation will remind you of what you have so you don’t focus on what you think you lack.  That’s the secret to living joyfully.

Tap into your Super Powers!

Super silo 2Your body is wise to the ways of the world and tapping into its Wisdom is almost like having a super power.

How well are you listening to your body?

Body wisdom should never be ignored yet so many people frequently do.

Try this for a moment.  Close your eyes and think of the last time you made a decision where the outcome wasn’t positive.

How did you physically feel when you were making that decision?  Did you experience queasiness in your stomach, sweating palms or another physical indicator that you might be making the wrong decision?

Now remember a time when you made a really good decision and do the same exercise.  What is your body memory?

Your body is a finely tuned machine and assesses situations more quickly and accurately than your minds does.

Your mind will analyze, justify, rationalize and, almost always give way to emotions first and logic after.

Your body, on the other hand, knows instantaneously whether you’re making a good decision.

When you listen what your body is saying, and use that information, along with what your mind is telling you, you will have an incredibly strong and powerful decision making process.

Don’t just think things through, feel them.

Are you removing your blocks?

happy kid playing with colorful blocks isolatedHave you ever watched a child build something with blocks?  They get very focused and add and remove blocks with great care.

They intuitively know when a certain block isn’t going to work with the vision they have in their head.  They’ll add in a block, study it and then remove it if it doesn’t feel right.

Following that example is a great way to ensure that your life is the best it can be.

Remove the blocks that don’t serve you or the vision you have for your life.

It’s extremely difficult to vibrate at a high level, be of complete service to others and make decisions that are in your best and highest interest when you have a variety of blocks holding you back.

Blocks show up in many different forms but the most common are shame, guilt, fear, worry, doubt and anger.

Close your eyes for a moment and see through the eyes of your inner child.

If you were building something that fit the very best vision you have for your life, would you choose any of those blocks?  Of course not!

The next time you feel one of those feelings, visualize yourself removing that block from your “structure”.

That’s the beginning of the road to joyful abundance.

Good, Good, Good, Good Vibrations!

sunset and happy manSing along with me right now, to that classic Beach Boy tune.  Ready?  “I’m picking up good vibrations.  Good, good, good, good vibrations!”

It’s all about the vibrations, isn’t it?  Nothing will impact your day, your week, in fact your life, like staying in those good vibrations.

Have you ever noticed how two people can experience the same thing but one will make the proverbial lemonade from lemons while the other one just keeps getting a sour face outcome?  That’s vibration in action.

Staying in a positive vibration is critical to living in a joyful and abundant state.  The energy you put out there is the energy that comes back to you so you’ll want to keep your vibrations high and positive.

The Law of Attraction says like attracts like, so when you believe and act as if everything is working in your favor, you’ll find that that is exactly what happens. In fact, you’ll find an abundance of evidence supporting that belief.

You may also notice that maintaining a high vibrational level allows you to make decisions from a place of confidence.

You’re simply telling the Universe that you believe all things are working for your good.

The Universe therefore, will continue to supply you with more and more of that yummy goodness!

Are you creating what you desire?

ArtistDo know you have the absolute power to create your reality?

Benjamin Franklin famously said, “While we may not be able to control all that happens to us, we can control what happens inside us.”  This is the essence of creating your reality.

Of course there will be events and circumstances that are beyond your control and that you did nothing to create.  That’s just a part of life. Your reactions, and perceptions, however, are always within your control.

You’ll find that responding in a positive manner and empowering yourself in the midst of any situation, can lead to purposeful actions, which can create a better reality.

Yes, it can be tough at times, especially when things aren’t going so smoothly.

However, when you consciously choose to not be a victim, blaming others for your fate, and realize that things aren’t happening to you, they are happening for you, you’ll begin to see almost magical ways to create the reality you will wish to embrace.

As you understand that you have the power to choose your thoughts, and your perceptions, and live by design, your life will embody abundance. You will live life to the fullest, knowing the Universe has everything you need.

Go ahead, I dare you.

Create your reality!

A Lesson Learned…

Happy Lady RunningHave you heard this quote, attributed to Oprah?  “Forgiveness is letting go of the hope that the past could have been any different.”

One of the reasons this is such a powerful quote is that it underscores the fact that all things happen in divine order.

It doesn’t mean that everything that happens to you is good but it does mean that everything that happens to you is what you needed to become the person you’re meant to be.

When you start to embrace this way of thinking, it makes forgiving other people easier and allows you to look at your life through a more positive lens.

There are always lessons in every situation. When you look back on the things you may have labeled “bad” at the time, you may now realize that many of them were blessings in disguise.

The Universe has and always will be, conspiring for you and in your favor.

Things happened as they should in order for you to move through the world in a specific way and that will ultimately, if you choose this path, bring joy to others when you share the wisdom and experience of your story.

Are you Traveling Lightly?

Redhead girl with suitcase at tree's alley.Have you taken your summer vacation yet?

Summer is always such a great time to pack up your bags and hit the open road.

One thing I know to be true as an experienced traveler, take as little baggage as possible!

Light loads tend to make for easier, more enjoyable vacations.

When you aren’t worried about where your things may or may not be, the trip is always less stressful.

The surest way to keep track of everything you brought with you is to make sure you don’t bring too much.

As you travel through life, as well, don’t get bogged down or preoccupied with your belongings, if you want to enjoy your journey.

Lighten your baggage, literally and figuratively!

You will find life flowing more easily when you keep a vigilant watch on what you’re carrying around with you.

Just as you wouldn’t carry unnecessary items when traveling, be sure to let go of all your unnecessary emotional items when you travel through life, as they will also slow you down!

You can choose your friends…

Big family on sofa looking at a terrestrial globeWith summer in full swing, there are usually plenty of opportunities to get together with family.

Family vacations, reunions or simple get togethers over certain activities happen a lot in the summer.  Ah, family.  There’s nothing quite like it!

It’s been said that friends are the family you choose but your blood family is yours whether you would have chosen it or not!

If you are lucky enough to have a family that you adore, it still is common to experience some “triggers” being around them.

If you have a family that does nothing but trigger you, then you have ample opportunity to experience growth.

You may already know by now that nothing is ever about the other person, it’s always about you.

What are they triggering in you?  What does your reaction say about you?

What do your thoughts and feelings about this other person illuminate what is going on with you?

When you look at everything through the lens of “you”, you’ll be amazed at what can happen.

People are just people, doing what they do and saying what they say.

It’s your reaction and emotions around this that bears more scrutiny.

Look objectively within first before you react to your external surroundings.
