Did you have a great Independence Day! If you live in America, July 4th is the day we celebrate our Independence. I hope you celebrated your independence and your freedom.
Now, I know there’s so much controversy in our country, with people questioning exactly how free we are. Yet, I still contend that we should be celebrating our freedom.
The very fact that we are having such debates over what is and is not limiting our freedom (and it’s all being done publicly) is a sign that freedom is alive and well.
Freedom stems from your state of mind, and the quality of your thoughts. It is but your beliefs that hold you prisoner.
You are free to expand your thoughts and to create the life you wish, and as you focus on your freedom to experience life’s beauty, that’s what you will attract!
As a seasoned traveler, I’ve seen some wonderful things and I’ve seen some not so wonderful things and we, as Americans still have a lot to be thankful for.
We live in a country where it is possible to become what you dream and to turn your life into something that brings you joy and freedom.
Our country is beautiful and vast and a treasure to explore.
Whether it’s purple mountains’ majesty or one of two shining seas, we live in a great nation. Let’s not forget that. In fact, let’s celebrate it!

Are you living independently… Another way of asking this is, are you living free?
As Americans celebrate Independence Day this week, it started me thinking about what it means to live a life of independence.
Living a life that is “independent” would probably be described by most people as living on your own terms and not beholden to anyone else.
When you are independent, you can make your own way in the world and take care of yourself. Did you know there are other ways in which you can live independently?
I like the word “release”. When you release certain things that impede your joy, you can enjoy a life of independence.
Imagine a life independent from worry or fear or guilt.
Who would you be if you released the stories about who you think you are? What if you were independent from that event that happened to you or from people who hurt you?
Quite frequently, we become dependent upon our stories and what’s happened to us in the past.
When we do that, we aren’t living a life of independence because we’ve tethered ourselves to things that don’t serve us.
Let this be your Declaration of Independence…
Today I release myself from all the stories that no longer serve me!

I’ve heard this recently and just love it: “Get your SHIFT together!”
Yes, it makes me laugh but I wonder if people understand just how powerful this statement is.
Most of the worry and strife you experience is because of your perception about things.
If thoughts become things and things become words and words become actions, then your particular perception (thought) is going to quickly move from your mind straight into a physical manifestation. Since perception is reality, there you go!
If you want a different life, shift your perception from what appears to be reality.
Your perception colors the language of the order you request from the universe, whether you like it or not.
Think you’ll never meet the man/woman of your dreams? Feeling like your business will never be a success?
If you don’t believe they will happen, they won’t, because your beliefs create your perceptions. Your perceptions that your special someone isn’t out there, that you don’t have what it takes to create a successful business will create that reality.
Shifting your perception creates a different vibration so that you’re putting that higher one out there and that will cause a different reality. So stop already and get your shift together!

Summer is typically a time of travel, yet it is also a time for just taking it easy.
You may be planning an exotic adventure or maybe relaxing into a slower rhythm and returning to your favorite, “I can just sit here and do nothing” family spot.
Have you noticed that the long days of summer create many opportunities to relax and play, and shift you out of your regular routine gently and easily? The days are longer, the days are warmer and there’s just a delicious feeling of ease and flow.
Leaving your routine can mean shifting your expectations of how things should be. I think that’s one of the reasons people tend to love summer so much.
Summer can feel mystical and magical, as if anything can happen! When you let go of expectations, things do start to happen almost as if by magic.
Releasing expectations gives you the gift of being open to whatever happens in the moment, and when you’re in the moment, you’re fully present.
It’s officially summer now, so be present, in the moment, and open up to new possibilities!

You know that feeling of excitement you have when you are on vacation? What if I told you that you could experience that feeling every day?
Summer is a time where people travel to have pleasant and new experiences, yet it’s possible to have them regardless of time or location.
One of the things that makes a vacation so enjoyable is your conscious decision to not think about the everyday things and instead, focus on what you’re experiencing in the moment.
Deadlines, clients? “Not right now, thank you. I’m on vacation! I’m having an experience!”
You can have an experience in your everyday life, and it doesn’t take much money, nor do you have to travel far.
What makes a vacation a vacation, is breaking the routine and removing yourself from your normal surroundings, and you can do this every day.
I have a friend who likes to go to the beach from exactly 4:00 to 6:00 pm once week to read non-work material. She says she comes back from those two hours feeling as if she has taken several days off.
She changed her location and became totally engrossed in her reading. That’s all it took!
What can you do this week to get that vacation feeling?
