Free your Mind…Free Your Life!

Moon and StarsRecently, I’ve talked a lot about freedom and what it means to live in freedom.

One of the most important concepts to understand about this topic is that freedom can also be living with a particular mindset.

Imagine how your life would be different if you were free from worry and anxiety!

One of the most interesting “a-ha” moments I’ve ever had was discovering how a ‘freedom mind-set’ could set all the other areas of my life free.

I let go of things from my past so I was free of guilt, regret or unforgiveness.

I released my worry for the future, and was free to make better decisions, instead of being paralyzed by worry caused inaction.

I let go of anxiety about things I couldn’t control and became free to live fully in the moment and enjoy the present (which is where all your power is).

Living with a free heart and mind is the most powerful thing and the best gift you can give yourself.

Start giving yourself the gift of freedom today by releasing all the things that have held you captive.

Amplify Your Blessings!

GratitudeAs I contemplate this week of a patriotic holiday, I am overwhelmed with all I have to be grateful for.

While it’s true, there are some tough things going on in both our country and the world right now, there’s still so much that is good, that I’m spending quite a bit of time this week in gratitude.

The Law of Attraction reminds us to place our focus on what we would like to amplify.

I feel blessed that I live in a country where I can freely move about, work and vote.

I feel blessed that I can dream big things and then go after them, rather than feeling as if there is no way out of my current circumstances.

I feel blessed I live in a country where I can read, write and get any kind of education or job that I’m brave enough and determined enough to go after.

I feel blessed I have certain rights and that we have laws that uphold those rights.

America is resplendent with things to be grateful for, that we too often take for granted.

My country is not perfect. It would take perfect people to create perfection and none of us is perfect!  (except in our imperfections!)

However it is a place where I believe, at the end of the day, people still have hope that they have a say in their circumstances and that they have a great deal of control over their destiny.

What does Freedom Mean to You?

Posing Model Beautiful WomanWhat does freedom mean to you?

There are a lot of ways to describe freedom and chances are, you have a specific definition.

If you don’t, just getting clear on how you would define freedom can actually help you get more of it.

When you know what “freedom” means to you, it will be easier to make decisions that support your view and then create a life and lifestyle around that.

I have a friend who recently decided to significantly downsize her life so she could travel more.

Freedom to her means being able to go wherever she wants, whenever she wants, so she made choices that would allow her to do that.

Another friend recently relocated from an area she loved to one that she didn’t love quite as much but was down the street from her kids.  For her, freedom meant being able to see her children every day.

Living life in a way that brings you joy and ease is living a life of freedom.

This week, I encourage you to take some meditation time and listen to what your heart is telling you it really wants and needs to feel free.

I AM a Firework!

A man looks holiday fireworksDid you get a chance to see any fireworks over the 4th of July week?  Aren’t they beautiful?

You may be familiar with these lyrics from the Katy Perry song, “Baby, you’re a firework.  Come on, show them what you’re worth.”

You are a firework so don’t forget that!  Just like fireworks light up the sky and make people go, “Oooohhhhhh”, you do too.

There is something inherent in you that is light and energy and that brightens things up and other people see that.

The thing to keep in mind is that you need to see that.  You have that kind of beauty and power.

Practicing “I AM” statements is a great way to remind yourself of the power and the beauty you already have within you.

Your greatness isn’t “out there”, which is why you don’t want to speak in future terms.  Instead of “I will be happy and healthy”, say, “I AM happy and healthy.”

Change “I will be a home owner” to “I AM a homeowner”.

Your inner fireworks are just waiting to be turned loose so they can explode and show their brilliance.

So take a deep breath and say, “I AM a firework!”

Set your boundaries and PLAY!

SandcastleThe July 4th holiday conjures up images of picnics, family, hamburgers and hot dogs for many people.  Does it for you?

Maybe you’re even seeing fireworks in your mind’s eye right now.  This holiday is typically a day set aside for fun, rest and relaxation.

The boundary on this particular holiday is clear; don’t work… Have fun!

Setting boundaries is always important but setting the boundary between work and play is extremely important.  It can, however, tend to be problematic for some people.

When you set a clear boundary in this area, (work is over here, play is over here), you give yourself permission to take a clean break from work and get out and enjoy your life!

You cannot underestimate the value of taking enough play time to maintain a sense of health and well-being.

You hear me talk a lot about exercises that help you get quiet but I’m not talking about breath work, meditation or any of that today.

Today, I want you to go play.  Play a yard game or a board game.  This week, don’t get quiet, get out there!

Go do something wild and crazy and fun.  Set a clear work boundary and take time to play.
